The frequency of headaches (HA) among schoolchildren of different populations is estimated. HA frequency is higher among urban residents. Children with HA suffer from sleep disorders, their sleep duration was less than in healthy peers. Among aggravating factors there were uncorrected visual impairments and brain injury history. Working with a computer does not affect the frequency and type of HA. HA in schoolchildren does not depend on the time of day, day of week and time of year. We discuss the pathophysiology of HA, differential diagnostics, indications for examination. Pediatrician’s task is to organize interprofessional interaction, and to control non-drug therapy.

Key words: headaches, children, adolescents, diagnosis, differential diagnostics, doctor’s tactics.
