    The aim is to study the role of polymorphism of genes of enzymes of the antioxidant system in the development of erysipelas and characteristics of the clinical course of the disease.

    Material and methods. The main group ― 92 patients with erysipelas, the control group ― 71 healthy individuals. In the DNA extracted from venous blood, four single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) of two AOS enzyme genes — superoxide dismutase and catalase — SOD1 G7958A, SOD2 (C2734T), SOD2 C60T, and CAT C-262T were determined using diagnostic kits of CJSC Litekh, Russia. The study presents a comparative analysis of the distribution of gene polymorphisms of antioxidant system enzymes (AOS) in the group of patients with erysipelas and the group of relatively healthy individuals living in the Republic of Tatarstan.

    The results of the study showed that gene polymorphisms of the enzymes superoxide dismutase 1 — SOD1 (G7958A), superoxide dismutase 2 — SOD2 (T2734C) and catalase — CAT (C262T) affect the susceptibility to the development of erysipelas and the clinical features of the disease.
