The study included 560 patients (876 eyes), aged from 20 to 85 years. The patients were divided into 3 groups. The first group included patients who underwent femtolaser-assisted phacoemulsification of cataract with IOL implantation using Ziemer FEMTO LDV Z8. The second group underwent a similar surgery using LenSx Laser System. The third group (control group) included patients with the lens replaced by an IOL during phacoemulsification, but without a preliminary femto-stage. Also, in each group, uncomplicated cases including opacity of the lens of various densities, and complicated cases including lesions of the lens lenticular apparatus (subluxations), iris dystrophy and atrophy (stiffness of the pupil) were separately taken into account and compared. On the first day after the operation, the uncorrected visual acuity averaged 0.4-0.6, and the best corrected visual acuity was 0.7-1.0. The magnitude of corneal astigmatism after arcuate keratotomy decreased to 80% of the initial one. The visual acuity in each case depended on the specific initial functional state of the retina and the presence or absence of amblyopia.
Key words: femtolaser surgery, FEMTO LDV Z8, LenSx, senile nuclear cataract.
