Functional disorders of the gastrointestinal tract (FD GIT), manifested by abdominal pain, in infants and preschool children are not sufficiently researched. In practical terms, there are problems in the diagnostics and treatment of these conditions. The study shows that the trigger of FD GIT formation in these age groups are mainly biological factors: heredity burdened by gastrointestinal diseases, perinatal pathology of the CNS, old intestinal infections and helminthic infestations, frequent use of antibiotics and NSAIDs, defects in the diet.

Key words: functional disorders, younger age, preschool age, abdominal pain, age-related features.
