Based on an analysis of publications and own clinical example, the article presents the importance of assessing the anatomical features of the uterine artery before performing UAE for uterine fibroids. Before UAE, it is necessary to conduct an adequate assessment of the topography and blood supply of myomatous nodes by ultrasound with Doppler. For atypical locations, large and gigantic myomatous nodes, it is recommended to perform computed tomography or magnetic resonance imaging. Transradial access for women with a history of childbirth is preferable, due to changes in blood vessels in the form of tortuosity and flexures, which makes it difficult to visualize the origin of small branches of the uterine artery.

Key words: uterine fibroid, uterine artery embolization, vessels anatomy.
