The article presents the results of implantation of corneal segments to 21 patients with keratoconus (31 eyes). After the operation, an increase in the uncorrected and corrected visual acuity from 0.24±0.24 to 0.45±0.30 and from 0.58±0.27 to 0.72±0.25, respectively, was noted, and therefore, a decrease in the spherical and cylindrical components of refraction. The effect of segments on the parameters of the anterior surface of the cornea is more pronounced than on the parameters of the posterior surface of the cornea. So, on the front surface of the cornea, the average value of the maximum keratometry decreased by 4 dioptres, and on the back surface it increased by 0.3 dioptre. The statistically significant decrease in the Q constant and astigmatism was noted along the anterior surface, no statistically significant changes in these parameters were detected on the posterior surface.
Key words: keratoconus, implantation of corneal segments, keratotopography.
