The nosology of atrial fibrillation in patients of therapeutic hospital (2943 medical histories) was evaluated and compared with clinical diagnoses made by attending physicians. The examples of the causes of atrial fibrillation are presented, which demonstrate the approach to evaluation of the atrial fibrillation cause. The conclusion is made about the overdiagnosis of coronary heart disease and underestimation of the arrhythmogenic role of hypertension.
Key words: atrial fibrillation, arterial hypertension.
