The main ultrasonic and hydrodynamic parameters of the lens aspiration are compared by two different ultrasound tips: a straight flattened needle (according to Kishimoto) and a curved needle of the Kelman type (Mini Tip) with a constant outer and inner diameter. Bimanual torsional phacoemulsification of cataract with femtocompatibility (FemtoFEC) was performed in 35 patients (35 eyes). For the purpose of objective evaluation of postoperative parameters, the «Femto-comparison» technique was used, the essence of which is crushing of the nucleus into two absolutely identical parts by means of a femtolaser. In comparison with the Mini Tip needle, when using the Kishimoto needle, a greater expenditure of ultrasound (US) energy and a longer time of aspiration was detected, however there was a smaller volume of aspirated liquid.
Key words: ultrasound needle, torsion ultrasound, bimanual phacoemulsification of cataract, femtocomparison.
