 The economic effectiveness was estimated of selective laser trabeculoplasty (SLT) in 62 patients with primary open angle glaucoma (POAG) aged 42.2 to 86.0 years within 1 year after surgery. All patients were divided into 3 groups (clusters), and then each of the three clusters was characterized using the univariate statistical analysis. The dynamics of the medical treatment cost from the surgery within 1 year after surgery was analyzed in the clusters. The dynamics of the cost of instillation of antihypertensive drugs revealed a decrease of medical treatment cost in patients up to three months after surgery, then the cost of instillation increased in the period from 3 to 6 months and further it declined again. Transportation expenses of patients were also analyzed. The analysis of the total cost of treatment indicates that they are higher in the cluster 1 which comprised patients of senior age. The results of the study showed that SLT is a safe and effective treatment for POAG with low economic costs.
