Epidemiological features of Lyme disease in the Republic of Crimea in 2013

Main epidemiologic features of Lyme disease had been determined based on official statistic and maps of epidemiological investigation of the foci in the Republic of Crimea in 2013. In 2013, 42 cases of Lyme disease in Crimea were registered; the incidence rate was 2.14 per 100 thousand of population, which is 1.5 times higher than in 2012. Significant increase of morbidity among urban population (39 cases — 92.8 %) and in anthropurgic foci (23 cases — 54.7%) was marked. The group of risk are working people aged 21-60 (more than 90% of the total number of patients). Cases of the disease had been reported from February till December, with the greatest number of them in June and July.
