The article presents the results of the study of regional epidemiological and clinical features of chronic viral hepatitis C (CVHC) in children of Samara region. 85 patients between 1 and 17 y. o. were under supervision, divided into 2 groups: 39 children with genotype 1 and 46 children with genotype 3. No reliable differences by sex and age were detected. Most of the children were from Samara and Tolyatti; there were significantly fewer such patients in Samara region, where the examination quality and coverage were worse. The main mode of transmission was perinatal (97,0%). Most children showed asymptomatic course of the disease with gradual progression. The leading syndrome was cholestase syndrome (90,0 and 80.0% respectively in children of the two groups, p < 0,05). The high viral load was determined in 42,0 and 40,0%. Despite the low-symptom course, the initial stages of liver fibrosis were detected in 34,0 and 25,0% of children, respectively (p < 0,05). Thus, in Samara region there is a need to intensify the work on active detection of children infected with CVHC.

Key words: HCV-infection, chronic viral hepatitis C, genotype, children.
