    Objective: to present a review on enthesitis in patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD).

    Material and methods. The recent works on the features of enthesitis in patients with IBD were studied. Particular attention was paid to the methods of diagnosing enthesopathies, as well as the dependencies of periarticular pathology and IBD. The biological therapy influence on the development of enthesis pathology in patients with IBD and the prevalence of enthesitis in children were also examined.

    Results. According to the data obtained, despite the well-known pathogenetic and clinical association between spondylitis and inflammatory bowel diseases, the importance of examining entheses in patients with IBD was studied much less than in patients with ankylosing spondylitis or psoriatic arthritis. Among the methods for diagnosing enthesopathies with IBD, ultrasound was most often used to detect signs of subclinical enthesopathy. However, despite the high subclinical frequency of enthesopathies in patients with IBD, their relations with the activity, duration and type of bowel disease was not detected.

    Conclusion. Damage to the joints and, especially, periarticular structures in IBD seems to be an important and largely unexplored clinical problem requiring further research.
