The analysis of the results of YAG-laser discission of secondary cataract (SC) was performed in 11 eyes of 10 patients with intraocular correction of aphakia by volume-changing intraocular lenses based on flexible planar torsion haptic ― Plate Torsion Haptic Intraocular Lens (PTHIOL) of model MIOL-28 in the period from 4.5 to 8 years after IOL implantation. It was found that development of SC, which demanded discission of the posterior lens capsule, was observed in 4.15% of patients with implanted PTHIOL during the follow-up period up to 8 years after surgery (total amount is 265 implantations in 218 patients), which indicates the effectiveness of the implant in terms of preventing the SC. YAG-laser discission of SC in patients with intraocular correction PTHIOL is safe and effective, and holding it within the boundaries of optical PTHIOL zone, hydrophobic nature of the lens material and large contact area of the implant with the capsular bag of the lens are the factors that prevent the violation of the lens location and other ccomplications in this group of patients.
