The article presents the results of a detailed study of fetoplacental complex in patients with epilepsy. It is revealed that epilepsy has an adverse effect on pregnancy and the nature of this effect depends on the degree of compensation of the underlying disease. It is proved that when mother suffers from epilepsy and takes AED the fetus exists in conditions of intrauterine hypoxia, as a result of reduced oxygenation of brain. It is necessary to conduct an adequate preconception preparation of pregnant women for normalization of hemodynamics and improvement of perinatal outcomes.
Key words: pregnancy, epilepsy, feto-placental complex, anti-epileptic drugs.
