The development of arterial hypertension (AH) in patients with diseases know as a «metabolic cardiovascular syndrome» has a number of specifics. The characteristics of vascular wall stiffening — the of pulse wave velocity (PWV) is of a great interest. According to some data endothelial dysfunction (ED) is reversible in early stages of cardiovascular diseases in young persons if some risk factors (e.g. smoking) are eliminated. Various lifestyle changes and medications will be helpful as well. That is why early defection and timely correction of ED acquire particular urgency. The most widely used method of PWV measurement is sfigmometry. The study of structural and functional features of arterial wall in patients with AH by means of PWV is a t scientific and practical challenge.
