The paper presents the results of morphological research of macular edema depending on the concentration of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF-A) and interleukin-6 in the serum and tear in patients with RVO after intravitreal introduction (IVI) of ranibizumab. We present the dynamic estimation of structural and immunologic parameters during the macular edema, basing on the carried out spectral optical coherence tomography and enzymatic analysis of blood serum and tear. The obtained data prove that patients with a combination of cystoid macular edema and serous retinal detachment (SRD) had maximum concentration of VEGF-A with a positive correlation dependence of height and extension of SRD. After IVI of ranibizumab, levels of VEGF-A in tear decreased independently on the structural changes in the macula. Thus, the research showed the dependence of morphological parameters of macular edema on the level of cytokines.
Key words: retinal vein occlusion; macular edema; ranibizumab; vascular endothelial growth factor, interleukin-6.
