Diagnostics of post-COVID syndrome in children

Post-COVID syndrome is a complex of symptoms affecting various organs and systems. Its clinical manifestations are diverse and nonspecific.
The purpose — to develop an algorithm for diagnosing the post-COVID syndrome in children who have suffered the new coronavirus infection.
Material and methods. The study involved 180 children aged 7 to 18 years who had received outpatient COVID-19 treatment. 3 groups were identified: the main group was the children who had a new COVID-19 with manifestations of post-COVID syndrome; the comparison group was children who had the new COVID-19 infection without manifestations of post-COVID syndrome; the control group was healthy children.
Results. The main manifestations of post-COVID syndrome in children identified in this study were the following: asthenovegetative syndrome — 37.9%, respiratory manifestations — 17.2%, cognitive impairment — 13.8%, prolonged subfebrility — 10.4%, cardiovascular system disorders — 10.3%, dermatological consequences — 6.9%, renal dysfunction — 3.5%. We developed an algorithm for the early diagnosis of post-COVID syndrome in children, which may help to identify the first signs of pathology, initiate timely therapy and reduce the risk of complications.
