      The article presents the results of investigation of the level of fetal hemoglobin and oxygen blood saturation in 264 patients with chronic diffuse liver diseases, including 69 patients with chronic hepatitis and 195 patients with liver cirrhosis. Blood concentrations of markers of endothelial dysfunction, nitric oxide and endothelin-1, were determined in 115 patients of the research group. The average values of fetal hemoglobin in liver cirrhosis were significantly increased, in comparison with chronic hepatitis, and, in both cases, compared to the control group. Oxygen saturation of blood decreased mainly in patients with liver cirrhosis. The relationship between the indices of fetal hemoglobin and oxygen saturation of blood in patients with the liver cirrhosis was revealed. There were noted tendencies of increasing the mean values of endothelial dysfunction markers with the growth of fetal hemoglobin in patients with liver cirrhosis. The study of these indicators helps in the early diagnosis of latent chronic hypoxia and hypoxemia and allows determining the disease severity and correcting treatment.
