There is currently no uniform criteria for termination of postoperative local treatment of diffuse peritonitis with programmed relaparotomy. Previously, we proposed a method of ascending gas-liquid flow (AGF method) for the treatment of peritonitis as an alternative to programmed relaparotomy. The AGF method was applied in the treatment of 12 patients with secondary diffuse purulent peritonitis. To evaluate the method effectiveness, we determined the concentration of leukocytes in the lavage fluid. We compared the dynamics of the white blood cells concentration with the dynamics of the general laboratory and clinical parameters. It is proposed to use a reduction in the leukocytes concentration in the lavage liquid to a minimum as the basic criterion for the termination of post-operative treatment of the abdominal cavity. The research has demonstrated compliance with the leukocyte concentration dynamics with the dynamics of standard laboratory and clinical criteria for the intensity of the inflammatory process.
