The article presents current approaches to diagnosis and treatment of congestive syndromes by endovascular methods. Data on the frequency of occurrence, course of disease, recommendations of the Society of Interventional Radiology for the evaluation of pelvic pain, as well as modern algorithms for the examination in this pathology, are given. The article comprises the history of venography, medical embolization of ovarian veins, differences in the materials and methods of the procedure, as well as the latest developments on the use of the technology. Indications for the procedure, complications and efficiency, according to some authors, are presented. The analysis of the fundamental sources and literature of the last years revealed actual debating point.
Key words: congestive syndrome; varicosity of small pelvis; venography, ovarian veins embolization.
