The aim of this study was a complex analysis of the health status of preterm children born with very low and extremely low body weight in the early neonatal period. Comparative evaluation of risk factors in pregnant women was made. The main risk factors for low birth-weight children, leading to preterm births and long-term disorders of the fetus thropism are extragenital pathology, genitourinary infections, fetal hypoxia, chronic fetoplacental insufficiency. We give a complex characteristics of children born with very low and extremely low body weight in neonatal intensive care unit, taking into account the pathology structure. The severity of this category of children is determined by the combined hemodynamic, metabolic, neurological and respiratory disorders.
Key words: premature infants, incidence, risk factors.
