    The analysis of uterine artery (UA) Doppler velocimetry parameters and cardiovascular index (CVI) values in the third trimester was performed in 73 patients with preeclampsia and 84 women with physiological course of pregnancy.

    Results: 94.5% of pregnant women with preeclampsia have an increased resistance index (RI) and/or pulse index (PI) of UA and an increase in CVI above 1.3. In the absence of gestational complications, a combined violation of uteroplacental blood flow (UBF) and an increase in CVI was found only in 1.2%. Women with preeclampsia had a significant increase in CVI in the third trimester, coinciding with the onset of UBF disorders, while the physiological course of pregnancy is characterized by stable CVI values of less than 1.3 throughout gestation. Doppler velocimetry of UA and calculation of CVI increases the informative value of the mother’s condition, allows suspecting the onset and progression of preeclampsia in advance and deciding on the pregnancy course tactics.
