Clinical case of the use of neurostimulation technique when installing a catheter for prolonged anesthesia of the third branch of the trigeminal nerve

The article presents the case of application of the neurostimulation technique with the aim of placing a catheter for prolonged anesthesia of the third (mandibular) branch of the trigeminal nerve to a patient with post-traumatic lower jaw deformation. The patient with the three-week right-side lower jaw fracture was assigned the operation «Extraction of teeth 1.6, 2.3, 3.5, 4.4, 4.7. Reposition of fragments, osteosynthesis with a bone titanium mini-plate». The method of combined anesthesia with catheter placement for prolonged blockade of the third branch of the trigeminal nerve for the purpose of postoperative analgesia was chosen as anesthetic support. The description of this case is aimed at drawing attention to new and developing neuroimaging technologies that increase the likelihood of successful completion of neuroaxial blockades, while reducing their invasiveness and the percentage of complications.
