The article describes the topicality of the issue of fat embolism syndrome as a complication of the positional compression syndrome. In the early post-compression period of the syndrome of prolonged compression, the respiratory failure often develops. This can be caused by the massive fat embolism. It is known that fat embolism manifests itself in a variety of low-specific symptoms, primarily due to a violation of microcirculation in various organs. A wide range of studies has been proposed for the diagnosis of fat embolism syndrome, but none of them has 100% specificity. The authors presented the optimal algorithm for complex diagnostic, surgical, medicinal measures designed for effective treatment of fat embolism syndrome. A clinical case is presented. New data were obtained.
Key words: positional compression syndrome, respiratory failure, fat embolism syndrome.
