The article presents the results of investigation, treatment and clinical follow-up of a child with a new-onset eosinophilic esophagitis. The disease was diagnosed at the age of six on the basis of a combination of clinical history and results of endoscopy and histology. The patient has improved during the course of treatment, both clinically and on functional and histological examinations. During the two-year long follow-up we have observed a positive effect of maintenance therapy, including elimination diet that allowed to increase the dietary variety without exacerbation of the clinical status. The lack of doctors’ vigilance to this disease results in late diagnosing and consequently, further complications.

Key words: eosinophilic esophagitis, food allergy, elimination diet.
