The article presents the analysis of the clinical and functional outcomes of combined treatment of patients with polypoidal choroidal vasculopathy (PCV), which included photodynamic therapy (PDT) with chlorine e6 photosensitizer (PS) and intravitreal injections of angiogenesis inhibitor Ranibizumab injection in comparison with Ranibizumab monotherapy. The following parameters were analyzed: the best corrected visual acuity, central light sensitivity of the retina, central retinal thickness, central choroidal thickness ― before treatment, and at 1, 3, 6 and 12 months after treatment. The analysis showed a greater effectiveness of combination therapy compared to Ranibizumab monotherapy in patients with PCV at 6 and 12 months after treatment. The obtained results determine the use of PDT with chlorine e6 PS in the complex treatment of PCV.
Key words: polypoidal choroidal vasculopathy, photodynamic therapy, chlorine e6, Ranibizumab.
