Current information about chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyradiculoneuropathy (CIDP) and related syndromes is presented. The etiology and pathogenesis of the disease are discussed, as well as the typical and atypical clinical picture of CIDP, with the characteristics of each form of polyneuropathy. Diagnostic criteria of CIDP, allowing to confirm or exclude this disease, are presented. Principles of CIDP treatment by anti-inflammatory and immunomodulatory drugs are considered in the final part of the article.
Key words: chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyradiculoneuropathy, multifocal motor neuropathy, multifocal sensory and motor neuropathy, distal symmetric chronic demyelinating neuropathy, chronic inflammatory polyradiculoneuropathy, chronic acquired demyelinating polyneuropathy.
