     Connective tissue dysplasia (CTD) is a heterogeneous group of connective tissue diseases (CT) of a polygenic-multifactorial nature, combined into phenotypes based on common external and/or visceral traits. The causes and clinical manifestations of the latter are varied. CTD is morphologically characterized by changes in collagen, elastic fibrils, glycoproteins, proteoglycans and fibroblasts, which are based on inherited mutations of the genes encoding the synthesis and spatial organization of collagen, structural proteins and protein-carbohydrate complexes, as well as mutations of the genes of enzymes and cofactors thereto.

    The aim of the study is to evaluate markers of bone metabolism and bone mineral density (BMD) in women with undifferentiated connective tissue dysplasia (UCTD).

    Material and methods. The study of bone metabolism was carried out on indicators of mineral homeostasis with the definition of markers of bone remodeling. 70 patients from 19 to 37 years old were examined (mean age was 25.0 ± 6.5 years), mainly with visceral, skin and bone-articular manifestations of UCTD.

    Results. It has been established that bone metabolism, metabolism of connective tissue and bone mineral density in patients with UCTD undergo changes, the severity of which depends on the clinical variants of the disease — presence/absence of visceral pathology, involvement of a particular system.

    Conclusion. The most significant changes in bone metabolism markers and bone mineral density are observed in patients with prevalence of skin and bone and articular manifestations of undifferentiated connective tissue dysplasia, which are in the risk group of development of the pathology of the skeletal system and, first of all, osteoporosis.
