Surgical treatment of pilonidal disease till the present day remains not fully resolved problem of coloproctology. In recent years, preference has been given to operations aimed at excising pathological tissues with flattening of the intergluteal fold and lateral suturing of the wound. The paper presents the result of treatment of 54 patients with epithelial coccygeal passage using the Bascom II procedure. Raising the intergluteal fold, Bascom II procedure shortens the rehabilitation period, minimizes the chance of a recurrence, and has a good cosmetic effect. During the discussion, possible difficulties in the development of the operational technique of this intervention are indicated. The conclusion is drawn on the feasibility of a large-scale implementation of the methodology in clinical practice.

Key words: epithelial coccygeal passage, pilonidal disease, surgical treatment, Bascom II procedure, treatment results.
