The article provides review data on bacterial vaginosis as the most common reason for the vaginal microbiota disorders; the latter result in replacement of lactobacilli with opportunistic anaerobic bacterial microflora and formation of a bacterial film. Emphasis is placed on the role of such dysbiosis in the development of urinary tract infections and cervical intraepithelial dysplasia. The difficulties of bacterial vaginosis therapy are highlighted, which are due to the development of resistance to the standard treatment regimen; possible ways of overcoming it are described.
Key words: bacterial vaginosis, biofilm, complications, therapy.
