The purpose — to assess the awareness of district pediatricians about the problem of recurrent respiratory diseases in children with chronic upper respiratory tract pathology.

Material and methods. The study involved 80 district pediatricians, among whom a survey was conducted aimed at identifying knowledge regarding the problem of recurrent respiratory diseases in children with chronic upper respiratory tract pathology.

Results. More than half of respondents believe that nasal obstruction syndrome in frequently ill children (FIC) is not associated with chronic ENT pathology; among its causes, pediatricians noted allergic and drug rhinitis, anomalies in the structure of the nasal septum. Among the main symptoms in children with chronic URT pathology, almost all district pediatricians note nasal congestion, only half note night cough and snoring, and less than a quarter point to symptoms such as hearing loss, daytime sleepiness and purulent otitis, less than 15% — to pronunciation and dental formation disorders, sleep apnea. The treatment prescribed to such children by pediatricians for ARI is reduced to systemic and topical antibacterial therapy, the appointment of topical decongestants and glucocorticosteroids. Among the reasons for referring a child to an otolaryngologist with nasal obstruction, pediatricians note the need to develop a joint conservative therapy, as well as the persistent desire of the parents.

Conclusion. Thus, the obtained data indicate the need to arm a pediatrician with knowledge of the monitoring tactics for a child with nasal obstruction and clear criteria for timely referral to specialists.
