Analysis of the research results of sclera tension in 50 patients (100 eyes) with myopia and in 30 patients with hypermyopia (30 eyes) has been made. The average age of patients with myopia was 13,1±0,3 years (from 6 to 17 years), with hyperopia ― 13,1±0,4 years. Low degree myopia is detected in 32 eyes, moderate ― 42 eyes and high ― 26 eyes. All patient have been performed a standard eye examination: study of visual acuity, refractometry, ultrasound biometry and biomicroscopy of eyes, pachymetry, tonometry, measurement of stiffness of corneoscleral membrane according to the computer differential tonometry data by Fridenvald. In patients with myopia an increase in anteroposterior size of an eyeball was accompanied by a significant reduction in thickness of sclera in projection of the plane part of the ciliary body, which also led to a significant increase in sclera tension.
Key words: myopia, hypermetropia, sclera tension.
