The article discusses the issues of rendering emergency surgery to patients with acute arterial insufficiency caused by acute thromboses, embolism, positional compression, and traumas of the main arteries of the lower extremities. The article presents the analysis of 78 records of in-house patients with fatal outcome in the surgery departments of the Central Republic Hospital and vascular surgery departments in the Republic of Tatarstan from 2017 to 2020. The author analyzes eth frequent mistakes in diagnosing and selecting the treatment tactics of patients with acute arterial insufficiency of the lower extremities, which, in the author’s opinion, could have aggravated the patient’s condition and become the cause of a fatal outcome. The criteria are discussed, which influence the choice of various approaches to treating patients with acute thromboses, embolism, and traumas of the main arteries in elderly patients with accompanying severe pathologies.
Key words: acute arterial insufficiency of the lower extremities, thromboses and embolism of the main arteries of the lower extremities, treatment, outcomes.
