Diabetic retinopathy is a serious complication of diabetes mellitus, leading to irreversible blindness and disability, especially in people of working age from 20 to 65 years. The article presents the results of a retrospective analysis of the volume of treatment performed in newly-admitted patients with type I diabetes mellitus at different stages of diabetic retinopathy. It is testified that late primary reference to an ophthalmologist by patients with type I diabetes mellitus with the developed proliferative stage of the DR requires a larger amount of treatment than patients who applied at an early stage.
