The purpose — to study the level of activity of 5`-nucleotidase in patients with HCV at the stage of the disease natural course exacerbation and its correction by intravenous ozone therapy.
Material and methods. 74 patients with HCV were under observation. The results were analyzed in three groups of patients with HCV, depending on the number of Tr, according to the phases of disseminated intravascular coagulation syndrome: the first group — hypercoagulation phase (Tr > 350 x 109/l, n = 5); the second group — transition phase (PF) between hyper- and hypocoagulation (Tr 350–200 x 109/l, n = 25); the third group — hypocoagulation (Tr < 200 x 109/l, n = 44) which included patients with liver cirrhosis (n = 18) in the outcome of HCV.
Ozone therapy was performed by intravenous infusion with continuous barbating of ozonated saline solution with a course of 5 procedures every other day. The content of the ozone gas mixture during the procedure was calculated depending on the patient’s weight using the formula: m (kg) х 20 mcg/l.
Results. In patients with natural course of HCV during the period of the disease exacerbation, the activity index of 5`-nucleotidase was statistically significantly higher than that of healthy individuals in all the studied groups. A statistically significantly higher level of 5`-nucleotidase was recorded in patients with HCV in the hypocoagulation phase compared to the intermediate phase and the hypercoagulation phase. An inverse correlation between the level of 5`-nucleotidase and the number Tr and a direct correlation with the value of alanine aminotransferase was found. Intravenous ozone therapy with a course of five procedures every other day reduced the enzyme activity.
Key words: 5`-nucleotidase, ozone therapy, chronic hepatitis C.
