Among all sinusitis, the diseases of the maxillary sinuses are the most frequent, due to their prevalence and a tendency to a chronic and recurrent course. This article presents a modern tactic for managing patients with chronic maxillary sinusitis.
Objective. To systematize various surgical approaches to the maxillary sinus.
Material and methods. 754 patients were under supervision with chronic diseases of the maxillary sinuses. Three variants of opening of the affected maxillary sinuses were used: through a canine fossa, middle meatus or lower nasal meatus.
Results. The technique was developed of postoperative defect plastics in the anterior wall of the maxillary sinus and remodeling of the uncus with the bone-substitute material “Rekost”. Dynamic observation of the operated patients has proved the effectiveness of surgical treatment.
Conclusion. Thus, a positive treatment result of bone-substitute material “Rekost” allows recommending this material for reconstructive surgery.
Кey words: endoscopic surgery, maxillary sinus, plastic reconstruction of the anterior walls, uncus.
