VITAMIN D AND CHRONIC BOWEL DISEASES: ROLE IN PATHOGENESIS AND PLACE IN THERAPY

The article presents a detailed analysis of modern literary data on the role of vitamin D in the pathogenesis of inflammatory bowel diseases (ulcerative colitis, Crohn’s disease) and celiac disease. The aspects of violation of immune regulation of the intestinal activity and possible mechanisms of immunotropic effects of active metabolites of vitamin D are discussed. It is shown that a decrease in vitamin D availability adversely affects the risk of manifestation, severity, duration of remission and propensity to recurrent ulcerative colitis, Crohn’s disease. The authors provide their own data on the provision of vitamin D for children and adolescents with celiac disease in the acute period and on the background of treatment.
