Peritonitis is a complication of many diseases of the abdominal cavity, and its treatment represents one of the most important challenges in surgery. Despite the undoubted medical advances, mortality in peritonitis remains high. The death of the patients in the postoperative period often occurs due to ongoing inflammatory process in the abdominal cavity and multiple organ failure. The high aggressiveness and invasiveness of the method of programmed revision of the abdominal cavity force surgeons to look for alternatives. Special attention is given to the introduction of video laparoscopy in the treatment of common forms of peritonitis. An important place was occupied by programmed laparoscopic sanitation after the initial operations for diffuse peritonitis. It is shown that laparoscopic sanitation of the abdominal cavity is an effective way of treating various forms of peritonitis.
Key words: diffuse peritonitis, laparoscopic sanitation, enteral insufficiency, intestinal probe.
