The myofascial dysfunctions are very often observed in athletes. In addition to pain, myofascial dysfunctions are characterized by manifestations of muscle strength reduction, muscle elasticity impairment, reduction of movement speed and its precision, what decreases the functional readiness of athletes to achieve the best results. The authors explored the effectiveness of treatment of myofascial dysfunctions in athletes by applying reflexotherapy and post-isometric relaxation over a long period of observations. The regular application of post-isometric relaxation in the study group of athletes (17 people) during 12 months allowed to authentically reduce the severity of myofascial dysfunctions compared with the control group (15 people).

Key words: myofascial dysfunctions in athletes, post-isometric relaxation.
