The article presents a review of the literature on the use of thoracoscopy in chest trauma surgery. The most frequent indications for thoracoscopy are described. Different viewpoints are discussed on the terms and advantages of this method with open and closed chest traumas. Also, the analysis is carried out of the results of treatment with thoracoscopy in comparison with other methods. The characteristic is presented of thoracoscopic operations for particular types of injuries of intrapleural organs and bones. Some clinical cases are described, demonstrating wide and unique advantages of thoracoscopy with various traumatic pathologies of chest. In addition, the various options of anesthesia during thoracoscopic operations were listed, and the technical aspects of operations were described. In conclusion, the critical assessment of the place and role of thoracoscopy for chest traumas is made, based on literature review.
