The study examines the estimation of the prevalence of factors of cardiovascular risk and characteristics of early preclinical signs of heart disease in young patients with high normal blood pressure. The survey included 38 young men aged 18-32 years. In every patient there were estimated anthropometric parameters, laboratory indicators, were made echocardiography with assessment of systolic and diastolic function, perforating arteries. For the analysis of structural changes in left ventricular myocardium was used the speckle tracking echocardiography (STE) with an assessment of the global longitudinal strain. The results showed a high prevalence of traditional risk factors in young men with high normal blood pressure. It was found that echocardiography with the use of speckle tracking is a highly informative assessment method of the left ventricular myocardium in the early stages of hypertension. Reduced blood flow in perforating arteries in diastole is an initial sign of vascular changes in patients with prehypertension.
Key words: high normal blood pressure, heart damage, speckle tracking echocardiography.
