The published data were analyzed on improving the efficiency of ischemic stroke diagnosis by using magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). It is shown that currently the most effective therapeutic treatment for ischemic stroke (allowing to restore blood flow and preserve the viability of reversible damage to nerve tissue) is the systemic thrombolytic therapy (TLT). The most important condition is the availability of the TLT neuro-visualization techniques that allow to evaluate the pathogenic subtype of cerebral infarction, and to establish vascular pathology that led to a stroke. Modern MRI protocols allow to identify the scope and nature of the stroke focus, and show the possibility of achieving the effect of thrombolytic therapy. Analysis of literature data indicates the widest possible use of MRI in the evaluation of patients with suspected ischemic stroke since the first hours of the disease, which in turn improves the efficiency and quality of these patients’ therapy.
Key words: ischemic stroke, magnetic resonance imaging, diagnostic efficiency, neuro-visualization, quality of therapy.
