The article presents the results of examining of 66 patients with newly diagnosed primary open-angle glaucoma (POAG) (120 eyes) and 25 patients of the control group (50 eyes). Ophthalmic examination was complemented with genetic analysis. Concentration of MMP-9 in the lacrimal fluid in both eyes was determined with «sandwich» ELISA. Genetic analysis was performed with polymerase chain reaction. Single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) of the gene СFН (complement factor H) were studied. We found the correlation between the MMP-9 production and the genotype СFH, as well as the prevalence of CFH gene polymorphism in patients with POAG in general.
Key words: glaucoma, matrix metalloproteinase-9, lacrimal fluid, complement factor H.
