Surgical treatment of old Monteggia fractures in children and adolescents

The authors have analyzed the results of treatment of 78 patiernts with Monteggia fractures. The conservative treatment of 46 patients with acute injuries provides satisfactory results. The old Monteggia fractures demand correction of anatomic-biomechanic disorders in the elbow joint and creating the elements of dynamic stability of the radial bone in relation ti the elbow bone. The authors have elaborated and applied in 32 patients the technique of curing the old Monteggia fracture with good anatomic and functional outcome.
