The article deals with the clinical aspects of acute poisoning with isoniazid ― primary anti-TB drug. Acute intoxication with the drug is manifested in repeating generalized tonic clonic seizures, severe metabolic acidosis and coma. This article describes a clinical case of severe acute poisoning with isoniazid with suicidal purpose, which was accompanied by all the classic symptoms ― convulsions, depression of consciousness and acidosis. After ingesting 7,5 g of isoniazid, a 29-year-old female was transferred to a hospital with depression of consciousness and convulsive attacks. The exposure lasted for 2.5 hours. The patient underwent a complex of therapeutic measures, including probe gastric lavage, introduction of enterosorbent, forced dieresis, antidotal, symptomatic and pathogenetic therapy. She was extubated after 14 hours post-overdose. No complications from the organs and systems. The patient is fully recovered.
Key words: isoniazid; overdose; poisoning; seizure, acidosis, depression of consciousness.
