The article presents a review of literature data on developmental history of the method of lyophilization of allogeneic grafts, the use of lyophilized allografts in various fields of clinical practice. An assessment of histological, morphofunctional, clinical features of this type of plastic material is given. It is shown that this type of plastic material deservedly occupies one of the leading places in the field of reconstructive medicine.
Key words: allografts, lyophilization, biomechanical properties, structure of allografts.
