The secondary mucociliary dysfunction is a well-known mechanism of lesion of mucous membrane of the upper and lower respiratory tract, which often leads to chronic diseases of respiratory tract. The article presents experience of treating patients with chronic polypoid rhinosinusitis, with atopic asthma as concomitant disease. All patients were consulted by a pulmonologist before and after treatment. Then was performed an endoscopic sinus surgery using the computer assisted navigation system, including an intraoperative sinus wash with a solution of N-acetylcysteine (3 ml = 300 mg) and postoperative administration of N-acetylcysteine in a dosage of 200 mg once per day for a month. The proposed way of treatment was used in 30 patients. According to the study results, this method increases the effectiveness of treatment, reduces the number of relapses not only of the underlying, but also of the concomitant disease.
Key words: chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps, nasal polyp, bronchial asthma, N-acetylcysteine.
