Objective: to study the most frequent adverse reactions and medical errors during antibiotic therapy in children.

Material and methods: analysis of the literature on the topic “Adverse drug reactions, current problems of antimicrobial pharmacotherapy in clinical practice”.

Results: the article provides general information about the factors leading to the development of undesirable reactions to drugs, their classification by the mechanism of action and severity, and also describes in more detail the main errors and adverse effects encountered when using antibacterial drugs in pediatric practice.

Conclusion: in order to reduce the frequency of adverse reactions and increase the effectiveness of treatment, the prescription of antibiotic therapy for children should be carried out only by a doctor and according to strict indications, with obligatory treatment courses with adequate duration and doses. In addition, the pediatrician must not only clearly know the main adverse reactions to the drug used, its therapeutic index, but also take into account the individual characteristics of the patient, avoid polypharmacy, development of antibiotic resistance.

Key words: children, adverse drug reactions, antibiotic therapy.
