66 patients were examined, with salmonellosis of middle degree of gravity caused by Salmonella enteritidis. The influence of mexidol upon the clinical parameters and endogenic intoxication indexes was studied. Mexidol was found to result in the normalisation of middle-mass molecules, in the decrease of diene conjugates and ketones, plasma malondialdehyde and erythrocyte, in the increase of catalase of plasma and erythrocytes, and superoxiddismutase. It is concluded that introduction of mexidol in the combined treatment of salmonellosis can be recommended as a promising option for the therapy of infectious diseases.

Key words: salmonellosis, intoxication syndrome, mexidol.
