The literature data on the clinical and diagnostic significance of neuron-specific enolase in the development of hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy in newborns are presented. The expediency of determining this marker in various variants of the disease course is shown. The study of the content of this neurospecific protein is valuable for diagnosing, monitoring and predicting the course and outcomes of hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy.
Key words: neurospecific protein, neuron-specific enolase, hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy, cerebral palsy, blood-brain barrier.
